Tucson Toros pitcher Rene Garcia called a Chicago White Sox scout to share some good news a week ago.

Garcia, a right-hander, struck out seven in 3 2/3 scoreless innings in Long Beach, Calif. More importantly, his fastball hit 95 mph.

After sustaining a shoulder injury in college, Garcia saw his velocity drop from 93-94 to 88-91 mph. But pitching for the Toros, he has returned to form, so he called his friend, Sox area scout Bryan Huie.
